Top Ten Movies to Watch When Sick

I have been sick the past few days, which for me is absolute insanity. I have never been good at lounging around and watching TV/movies. My friends and partner can attest to the fact that I’m not really a movie person. I realize this is quite strange, but it what it is. Sickness is the one factor that forces me to lie down and watch movies. I try to watch new ones, but I often find myself wanting to watch the same ones over and over. I suppose this is partly because of nostalgia and partly because it won’t be too upsetting if I fall asleep during the film.  So I decided to make a list of my favorite sick-in-bed movies. Please feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments!

10.) Extended LoTR Trilogy. If you really want to take advantage of all those hours on the couch, watch this trilogy. I’ve only done it once, but it was amazing.

9.)   The Jerk. “I was born a poor black child.” ‘Nuff said.

8.)   Clue. I love Tim Curry, but I especially love Tim Curry running around a mansion while everyone is being killed.

7.)   Sandlot. This movie makes me warm and fuzzy for-ev-ver!

6.)   Harry Potter-All of Them! They’re magical, entertaining, and help you pass the time quickly.

5.)   Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy is badass and will make you forget all about your sickness.

4.)   Serenity. I’m cheating, as this also includes watching the ‘entire’ season of Firefly. My first time watching Firefly was when I was sick (thanks Nick!), so it also adds to the nostalgia on my part.

3.)   Princess Bride. The story is told to a sick kid. To not watch this movie while sick is inconceivable.

2.)   Star Wars Trilogy. Never a better time to indulge and re-watch this lifelong favorite.

1.)   Anything Disney. I am cheating and putting all Disney films into one…otherwise this list might as well be called ‘Top Ten Disney’ films.
